James and Haylee are a young and happy couple from United States. James asked Haylee’s hand in the Plaza of Spain in Seville and I was there to document it with my camera. James contacted me a few months ago to ask if I could photograph the moment he would ask his girlfriend’s hand. In the United States they call it “Paparazzi Proposal” a clever way to document this moment forever.
We agreed to meet in Plaza de España, one of the most beautiful places in Seville. This plaza has been used as background for many great films, including some scenes of Star Wars. It was a different experience for me, to hide and shoot without being seen: luckily Sevilla is a turistic town and it was not difficult for me to hide, pretending to be a tourist. The moment of the proposal happened very fast, light was perfect and Haylee did not notice my presence. Of course she said yes to the marriage proposal and the two embraced in such a beautiful and emotional way.
After the proposal I introduced myself revealing the surprise.
The excitement was in the air, a great emotion was visible in the eyes of the couple. We decided totake some more pictures in Plaza de España and then we planed to meet again the next day at dawn. Dawn is the best choice if you are looking to have good light and pleasant temperature in Seville.
So we did, and Haylee & James walked through the old town of Seville visiting some of the typical places of this beautiful city while I was taking pictures, which I hope will be a memory for life. We visited the river, downtown streets and had walk in a carriage. James and Haylee are natural and easy going, willing to play and take pictures always with a smile. It’s been really fun to work with them, their happiness and enthusiasm has been featured in these photos.
