When I’m with you I become the best version of myself.
This is just one of many phrases that I heard during the wedding of Ana and Victor, held in front of the Monastery of Esperanza, in Spain near the city of Valencia. Ana and Victor are a young couple in love, they have that gleam in their eyes that betrays how much love they feel for each other. It has been easy to photograph them, the two are relaxed and easy going because everything flows in them.
The day I met them for the first time, when we took some photos for the engagement session I felt immediately comfortable. Ana and Victor organized a very special and unique wedding, following their derams. They chose to celebrate a civil wedding outdoors, in country style in front of the “Ermita de la Esperanza”, near Segorbe.
They chose a sober decoration with natural elements, combining elegance and beauty. The wedding day was an opportunity to tell the story through pictures with a documentary style. The day started visiting Victor in his parent’s house, where he was getting ready. It’s exciting to be in the house of the couple and feel the emotions in the air, the family and friends all work together for an event: the wedding.
The home where the bride was getting ready was quiet and calm. The family helps Ana with the final preparations, I followed her through the house while she was completing the details and beginning to dress. Moving slowly and letting people get used to my presence, without drawing attention is what allows me to get the pictures that I like. Unexpected moments, and natural gestures, these are the most faithful reflections of reality and the personality of the subjects.
When Ana is ready she moves down the stairs to meet her friends who are waiting to congratulate her. A few minutes later the bride is going to the ceremony in a carriage drawn by two white horses. Friends and family are waiting the site of the ceremony. Victor comes first as the protocol and shortly after the bride makes its appearance among the faces happiness of all the guests. The happiest of all are Victor and Ana, they are truly living a dream. It has been a ceremony full of emotion, hugs, kisses and tears of happiness. Witnessing these moments makes me happy to be a wedding photographer.
After the ceremony the guests and the couple are move at the Hotel Martin El Humano in Segorbe where the banquet is held. The atmosphere of celebration and joy is in the air. Friends of the couple prepare several elaborated surprises, a tradition of Spanish weddings.
The feast ended with a dance of the bride and groom, a dance prepared with great dedication indeed. More than just a dance was a performance of a musical . Very well executed!
