At the beginning of the year I received an email from a bride asking for information to take some honeymoon photos in Rome. She explained to me that she and her partner were planning a honeymoon in the Italian capital and were looking for a photographer. I immediately replied that I could help them. I know the city well and I am always happy to organize a photo shooting in the capital of Italy. We decided to take pictures in some of the most emblematic places of the city.
N. and D. are a young and in love couple that lives in the south of Spain. They love music, theatre and enjoy the good things in life. They chose Rome as the destination of their honeymoon, one of the most romantic cities in the world. They got married in Spain and a few days later they boarded a plane for Rome.
Planning the Honeymoon photos in Rome
Before we met in person, we had a meeting on Skype to plan the session. Rome is a very big and quite chaotic city, for which a good organization is very important. Among the difficulties of conducting a trash the dress session in Rome is the unpredictable weather and the number of tourists.
The most important places for N. and D. were Piazza San Pietro, Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi and, of course, the Coliseum. We decided to divide the photo session in Rome into two parts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. So we were able to take photographs with different lighting conditions and in different places.
In this occasion I was lucky to have a special assistant: I was accompanied by my photographer friend and video maker Pili. Working with her has been a great help since she knows exactly what to do in every situation. As a photographer, she knows the important aspects of light and composition. The help of an assistant in really important in this kind of photo sessions, where you never know what can happen.
The day before the session I went to visit the locations to study the best point of view and light conditions. Sometimes monuments may be closed or undergoing renovations and it is important to check the situation in time. This avoids losing precious time during the photo shooting.
The day of the Honeymoon photos in Rome
N. and D. decided to make a “First Look”. It is about staging the moment when the Bridegroom sees the Bride for the first time with her dress. On the day of the honeymoon session, we met the groom first and chose an appropriate place for him to wait for the bride. A few minutes later we met the bride: She was gorgeous with a beautiful mermaid-style wedding dress. She is a stunning and with a wonderful smile. When the couple saw each other for the first time it was a very emotional moment.
So we started the photo session in the area of Piazza Navona. We took several photos between the monuments and the tourists, some Romans stopped to congratulate the couple. We toured the streets of the city until we reach Castel Sant’Angelo and Piazza San Pietro. We were able to enter the square to take some pictures in front of the cathedral and we finished the first part of the report very happy. We made an appointment for a few hours later.
The second part of the photo session:
We decided to start the second part of the trash the dress in Rome in Piazza di Spagna. This is an emblematic place and particularly suitable for this couple. In addition to the beauty of this square with its famous steps, at this time of year there are many flowers that decorate the environment. We made some pictures with the help of a flash and we followed the route to reach the Trevi Fountain.
Finally we ended the day arriving at the Colosseum. N. and D. were tired but happy. It has been really a pleasure to work with them and having the opportunity to take those honeymoon photos in Rome.
Thank you very much for the trust and for allowing me to capture your smiles. This is a small selection of the Honeymoon photos in Rome we made: I hope you like them as much as I do and enjoy them for many, many years!
